College football holds a special place in the hearts of the American public. No matter what one’s rooting interest may be on any given Saturday, college football has an extraordinary knack for bringing people together. Fans relish the opportunity to relive past glory of their favorite teams and each fall they share a sense of anticipation and excitement as another football season is ready to begin.

It’s been that way for 138 years and the passion football fans have for this wonderful game continues to grow stronger with every day.

Four years ago, the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic decided the time was right to kick off the holiday season with a unique way to commemorate the birth of college football. It’s called National College Football Day…a holiday for fans everywhere to cel-

ebrate college football’s birthday.

On an annual basis, the first weekend in November has been designated as National College Football Day. That’s because college football was born on November 6, 1869 when Rutgers defeated Princeton, 6-4, in a contest that was destined to become an American institution.
