RAZORBACKS INTERIM HEAD COACH
Reggie Herring will serve as interim head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks for the 2008 AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic. Herring was named to the position following the departure of former head coach Houston Nutt upon the completion of the regular season. Herring named former assistant coach Louis Campbell as the defensive coordinator for the bowl game.

For the third-consecutive season, Herring served as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for
Arkansas in 2007. Herring is in his 25th season as a collegiate coach and his 27th overall in coaching. He joined the Razorbacks on Dec. 4, 2004, after one season as the defensive coordinator at North Carolina State.
Despite a number of position adjustments and injuries early on in 2007, Herring’s defensive unit gained confidence each week and ended the season playing its best football. That should come as no surprise to anyone that has followed this coaching veteran. Herring’s defenses routinely gel down the stretch when the stakes are enhanced.
The Razorbacks ranked second in the Southeastern Conference and fifth in the nation in pass efficiency defense with a
rating of 99. 14, fifth in the SEC and tied for 65th in the nation in sacks with 1. 92 per game and third in the conference and tied for 40th in the nation in tackles for loss with . 83 per game.
Matt Hewitt led all Arkansas defenders with 118 tackles – 63 solo, 55 assisted – and three tackles for a total loss of 12 yards. Weston Dacus led the linebackers with 98 tackles – 58 solo and 40 assisted – including 6. 5 TFL for 23 yards.
